Profit or loss on any gold trade in dollars, pips and percent — plus your break-even price after commission and swap.
XAUUSD profit or loss = (exit price − entry price) × lot size × 100 for a long trade, and (entry price − exit price) × lot size × 100 for a short. The 100 is the ounces in one standard lot at most brokers. Subtract commission and add or subtract swap to get your net result.
P/L = (Exit − Entry) × Lot size × Contract size (reverse for shorts)
Commission and negative swap mean you need gold to move a little in your favour before the trade is actually profitable. The calculator shows that break-even price: entry plus (or minus, for shorts) total costs divided by your ounces. With 1.00 lot and $7 round-trip commission, break-even is just $0.07 away from entry; on a small account with high swaps it can be meaningfully further.
Plan the trade before you take it with the lot size calculator, which sets position size and R-multiple targets from your risk, and check what each pip is worth with the pip value calculator.
Multiply the price move by your ounces. For a long trade, profit = (exit − entry) × lot size × 100; for a short, (entry − exit) × lot size × 100. A $10 move on 1.00 lot is $1,000.
A $1 move in XAUUSD is $100 per standard lot, $10 per 0.10 lot and $1 per 0.01 lot, before commission and swap.
Spread is included automatically if you enter your actual fill prices — a buy fills at the ask and a sell at the bid. Add commission and swap in the optional fields to see your net result.
The break-even price is where your trade covers its costs. For a long it's entry + (commission − swap) ÷ ounces; for a short it's entry minus the same amount.
